Obituary of JoAnne Shull Arlington

JoAnne Shull Arlington passed away peacefully on the morning of January 30, 2019.  The daughter of the late Joe and Gertrude Bandy Shull, Joanne was born in Primm Springs, Tennessee, August 8, 1937.  JoAnne is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jerry, and five children: Mike Arlington (Pam) of Bluffton, SC; Jim Arlington (Anita) of apex, NC; Candace (Handie) Podo of Centerville, VA; Alex (pat) Arlington of Columbia, SC; and Ed Arlington of Indianapolis, in.  Along with 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  JoAnne is also survived by her brother James G. Shull (Janice) of Huntington, IN.

For over two decades Joanne dedicated her life to caring for foster children.  The age of the 40+ children that felt her warm hugs and loving care were from newborn to three.  JoAnne’s work career centered on helping others as a caseworker for the Department of Social Services.  Always the adventurous one, JoAnne enjoyed family cruises and also traveled to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Alaska and Italy.  While attending the Bluffton church of Christ, JoAnne’s favorite hymns included Softly and tenderly, Sweet hour of prayer and Mansions over the hill top where now she’ll never grow old.
