Obituary of Elvira Melinsky

Elvira Melinsky, 109, formerly of Yorktown Heights died December 3, 2018 at Benton House in South Carolina.  She was the daughter of Rosina and Giuseppi Basile and was born in the Bronx, NY on March 26, 1909.  One of thirteen children, Elvira survived 8 brothers (Jack, Paul, George, Mickey, Freddie, Robert, Wilbert and Tillio) and 2 sisters (Millie and Rita). 

She married Ferdinand Melinsky on October 5, 1946.  Mr. and Mrs. Melinsky lived in Yorktown Heights, NY for over 34 years and raised 2 daughters, Julia and Arleen Melinsky.  Elvira was an active mom and worked locally at Kear’s Farm Stand in Yorktown and at A&P Food store in Shrub Oak until her husband’s retirement.  After her husband’s passing in June 1986, Elvira moved to Long Island to be near her daughters.

Mrs. Melinsky is survived by her 2 daughters and husbands, Julia and Edward Johnson and Arleen and Harvey Krauthamer, grandson Timothy Johnson and great grandchildren Noah (4 years old) and Charlotte (2 years old). 

Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 7 at 1 pm at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY.
